At Labelexpo Europe 2015, Sun Chemical is showcasing its latest innovations and launching a series of new ink solutions for the label and narrow web market.
Designed to guide packaging printers and label printers on their journey from Concept to Consumer, Sun Chemical is demonstrating its product development and showcasing its next generation solutions that span the entire packaging and labeling workflow. From initial design concept, to prepress, coatings, inks and consumables, brand integrity and compliant solutions, conversion through to final point of sale.
New innovations and product launch highlights include:
• The new fully compliant Rayoflex Electron White for food packaging applications.
• The SolarFlex Slalom White, a UV flexo sleeve white for efficient shrink sleeving.
• The new SolarScreen MRL range of ultra-matt screen inks for flatbed presses and slower-speed rotary screen presses.
• The Polare ink dispensing solution optimized for label and narrow web production.
• New UV LED capabilities for flexo, screen and digital
• SunColorBox for maximized digital color workflow management.
Showing for the first time is the new Rayoflex Electron White, a fully compliant UV flexo ‘first-down’ opaque white ink intended for the printing of labels, flexible packaging and sleeves for printers who require a low migration solution. The ink has excellent adhesion to a wide range of filmic substrates with high opacity and printability providing a scratch and scuff resistant finish, making it particularly suited to food and pharmaceutical packaging applications.
Making its debut to the market at Labelexpo 2015 is the SolarFlex Slalom white ink, a reverse printed, high opacity last-down UV flexo white for shrink sleeves. It is intended for use on shrink sleeves as well as applications where a reverse printed last-down white is required such as wrap around labels.
Also launching at Labelexpo 2015 is SolarScreen MRL, a new range of matt screen inks intended for the printing of labels, tags, sleeves, tickets and other applications where a flexible, ultra-matt finish where good receptivity is required. It is designed for use on flatbed presses and slower-speed rotary screen presses. The new range also provides good adhesion to all the most commonly used label stocks, including paper, top-coated polyethylene and polypropylene, PVC, Corona discharge treated polyethylene, polypropylene and PET.
Sun Chemical is introducing Polare, its new ink dispenser designed specifically for the label and narrow web market. Developed in partnership with Inkmaker to meet the requirements for lower volume consumption, the modular system allows dispensing of both flexo and offset inks from the same dispensing head.
SunJet, the digital inkjet division of Sun Chemical is showcasing its latest capabilities in UV curing inks with its Etijet range for narrow web and labels and Amphora inks for general packaging applications.
Visitors to the stand will see a wide selection of anti-counterfeiting solutions, including its array of covert and overt inks, SunShift, SunGuard and SunLock, offering brand owners and label producers enhanced product security.
Sun Chemical is also showcasing its range of UV LED curing inks, including a new developmental range of food packaging compliant UV LED flexo inks, which has been developed in conjunction with industry partners.
Sun Chemical is introducing its new SunColorBox. Comprising a set of applications and services to implement a digitally color managed workflow, the SunColorbox is aimed at supporting packaging converters to produce brand colors consistently anywhere in the world, within a fully optimized digital process, while achieving speed and cost efficiency.
Complementing its comprehensive product line-up at Labelexpo, is the company’s wide range of special effect inks and coatings under the SunInspire brand to add an extra dimension and sensory look and feel. New additions include the SolarScreen MRL range, for highly matt label applications. SunLase, Sun Chemical’s laser marking coating solution will also be present.
“At Sun Chemical, we are constantly looking at ways to progress the development of our inks, coatings and solutions to meet the increasing needs of the packaging printers and converters, enabling them to take advantage of these latest innovations to give them that all important competitive edge,” said Jonathan Sexton, sales and marketing director narrow web and screen at Sun Chemical Europe.
