Tetra Laval, the group which comprises Tetra Pak, Sidel and DeLaval, is donating an additional €8 million to humanitarian aid in Ukraine and relief efforts in Poland, Moldova, Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania (excluding Russia and Belorussia).
“We condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine and are deeply concerned by the war. It is tragic and terrible. The war is affecting our colleagues, friends, partners, suppliers, con-sumers, customers, and their families and friends. We stand with all of those who are im-pacted by the violence, and we join all parties calling for peace and an immediate cease-fire. We will continue to support humanitarian efforts locally in Ukraine and in Poland, Moldova, Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania,” said Lars Renström, chairman of the Tetra La-val Group.
Of the €8 million, €2 million is to be immediately donated to reputable aid organizations. A further €2 million will be allocated to secure safe food distribution for refugees mainly in collaboration with Tetra Pak’s local customers. The Group will evaluate how the remain-ing €4 million are best utilized in support of Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees outside the country.
Disruptions to the production, processing, packaging and distribution of food will have a significant impact for all communities that rely on Tetra Laval for safe food. The company reports that it is dismayed and greatly saddened that it is now increasingly difficult to make food safely available to individuals and households in Ukraine and that this may shortly also become difficult in Russia, which will impact individual consumers significant-ly.
Out of concern for the people of Ukraine and Russia, Tetra Laval will seek to continue its operations as long as this is practically possible, restricting activities to essential food products such as children's food. Other activities including investments, new projects and production of packages for non-essential food will be suspended.
