Lise Carey passed away on June 16, 2021 in France, just a few months shy of being 100 years old.
After getting her chemical engineering degree in France, Lise Carey took over the family business of metallic pigments and metallic inks with her husband, John Carey. She owned and managed the business, did the formulations and was given a patent on the world’s first one-part ready mixed metallic offset ink. She later went on to create the first one-part flexo/gravure water based metallic ink. Lise Carey made many contributions to the ink industry, and led one of the first female-owned ink making and metallic pigment companies.
She sold her company, Radium Bronze upon retirement to Schlenk metallic pigments, which spun off the ink division to create Radior Ink, which is still operating in France.
Lise Carey is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was predeceased by her husband, who passed away in 2002.
