Ronald A. Clark passed away at St. Patrick’s Residence in Naperville, IL May 11, 2018. Clark was a senior UV formulation chemist at Sun Chemical, where he worked from 1975-2002.
Clark was raised in an orphanage run by St. Procopius Abbey (now Benet High School in Lisle, IL). After returning from the US Army in 1966, he completed his college degree in chemistry and later began working for General Printing Inks, where he remained until his retirement.
“Ron was among the first in our industry to embrace UV and EB printing inks and coating technology,” said Steve Mitchell, lab manager energy curables R & D at INX International Ink Co. “Ron was a mentor to many young UV formulations chemists, service technicians, and color matchers who are still active at in our industry today.”
“Ron and I worked together when I started at The Clearing in Chicago,” said Brij Nigam of IdeOn LLC. “He took me under his wing and taught me important skills for printing inks. He was a really kind-hearted generous man and very patient. He will be missed.”
