Hosted by three organizations, the Metropolitan New York Coatings Association, the Philadelphia Society for Coatings Technology and the New England Society for Coatings Technology, the first-ever Eastern Coatings Show will be presented at the Taj Mahal Hotel and Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, from April 29-May 2, 2013.
A two-track series of technical and educational papers will create a more profound understanding of the theory, the science, the manufacturing, and the marketing of coatings. To create an awareness of their improvement performance and functionality beyond the traditional expectation is the prime goal of the presentations.
The topics of the presentations will range from nanotechnology and the coatings world to an analysis of new hybrid molecules to controlling the molecular structure of polymers to formulated nanodispersions to dispersed neoparticles; from new developments in architectural coatings to advances in pigment technologies to meeting the challenges of both the environment and green chemistry.
The many presenters will include such luminaries in the coatings industry as Robert McMullin and John Du of BYK USA; Dr. Robert A. Iezzi of RAI Technical Solutions, Inc.; Matthew Linares of Evonik-Degussa Corporation; Sudhir Achar and Leo J. Procopio of The Dow Chemical Company; Bridgette M. Budhlall of the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, MA; Jennifer Hall of Reichhold, Inc., and Dr. Steffen Pilotek of Buhler Inc.
A trade show of 51 participants will display products and services of various types, all of them integral to the modern coatings industry.
When asked who should attend, Bob Whiteley, an ECS committee member, said, “We expect a wide range of people in attendance at this Show due to the broad spectrum of topics covered in the technical papers as well as an opportunity to interact with suppliers in a more intimate setting.” This would mean everyone from technical people – chemists and formulators – to those in supply chain and purchasing, sales and marketing and management. “This should be relevant to those in the paints and coatings business as well as other allied industries such as printing inks, adhesives and building and construction chemicals to name a few. One emphasis of the show is a look forward to help with understanding future trends in the market place. This should appeal to everyone.”
Any questions about the event will be fielded by Technical Committee chair Dave White at davewhite@heubachcolor.com or Ann Fody, MNYCA’s executive director, at (732) 291-0168 or fodyassociates@comcast.net.
